This unique exhibition, in its second year, revolves around the theme of ‘the Human-Animal Connection’ and showcases a diverse range of pieces, depicting the bond between humans and creatures. Mediums include painting, drawing, pastel, prints, mixed media, sculpture, photography and digital art forms.
Works vying for this year’s prizes include a colourful leather wallaby sculpture by Warrnambool artist Matthew Clarke, symbolic ceramic horses by Eumundi artist Julie Field, pastels of a tiger and endangered red panda by the youngest artist in the exhibition, 11 year-old Abby Pham of Brighton East (Vic), and Golden Beach artist Jonathan Jones’ framed painting with poem and a pen drawing of his beloved Arabian stallion. There are also photographs, paintings, prints, collages and drawings of people with animal friends and companions, including horses, dogs, cats and birds.
Sponsored by Bendigo Community Bank Cooroy (Gold partner) this year’s prizes include a Major Prize of $2500, Runner-Up Prize of $1500, Highly Commended Prize of $1500, People’s Choice Prize of $500, and the new Under 18 Emerging Artist Prize of $500.

Head along to our next bush dance. If you’ve never been to one before, fear not. Bob, our fantastic dance caller has been calling dances for years, so he’ll walk you through the steps before we put them to music. Even if your circumstances prevent you from dancing, you can come along to listen to the music and watch us put the others through their paces! You’ll have a laugh.
The dance is family-friendly and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Many of the dances are progressive, so it’s a great way to meet people too.
An added bonus is that this is an air-conditioned venue. There will be seated tables to take a rest between dances if you need to, there’s a licensed bar and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks.
Wear shoes with a bit of grip but not too much – comfy sneakers are perfect. This is not the event for strappy sandals, high heels or pluggers.
Tickets are $10 cash at the door.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Nambour Bowls Club, Sunday 5 May, ready for a 2pm start (so come a bit earlier to get settled and have a drink beforehand).

Connect with a room full of inspiring, like-minded women at the beautiful Havana Haus as we come together to celebrate all things self love! Join us for a beautiful morning tea (and mimosas!) where we will hear from Kobie Allison, senior psychologist and director of Modern Minds who will speak to self worth, challenging our inner critic and setting realistic expectations of ourselves.
Throughout life, we naturally go through events and phases that make us question our sense of self. For some, this happens when you become a mum, or experience heartbreak, for others it happens when you’re not passionate about your job anymore or move to a new city.
This event is all about learning to love yourself in all of your phases and supporting you in coming back to yourself in any era of your life. When that sense of self wavers, changes, dims or returns – learn from Kobie at Modern Minds about how to care for yourself through those times.
Self events are for young women who are motivated to learn, grow, and surround themselves with others wanting to be their best self too!
We are so looking forward to welcoming you into our growing community!

Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah
has been much loved ever since its first performance in 1846.
A full orchestra, four soloists
and the Noosa Chorale are conducted by Kim Kirkman, a maestro who brings out
the best in all performers.
The dramatic rhythms, stirring
four-part choruses, and beautiful solos make for a masterpiece that is as
thrilling to sing as it is to listen to.
The themes of the dangers
arising from belief in false Gods are as relevant now as they were in Old
Testament times.

Two Plays – One Night
Timely stories of adaption, immigration, adjustment and sometimes isolation.
“Krishnan’s Dairy”, reportedly New Zealand’s favourite play, by NZ playwrights Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis , has toured the globe justly garnering rave reviews.
This wonderful show centres on the travails of a migrant couple, Gobi and Zina Krishnan , who emigrated from India to New Zealand to start a family and run a milk bar. Juggling the demands of running a small business in a strange country, and the ordinary stresses of married life, beget endless frustrations – some comic, some not so. Woven through is the story of Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his favourite wife.
“Scraps” – a new gem by local playwright, Joy Hinckley – Two philosophical Brisbane Ibises try to come to terms with history. You’ll never look at Bin Chickens ( maybe even history) in quite the same way ever again!
